EXCEL Group is looking for a dedicated and experienced PVC Loader/Switchman to join our team at a maintenance project site in Geismar, LA. In this role, you will be responsible for loading and unloading PVC materials, ensuring efficient handling and distribution within our facility. The ideal candidate should have a strong focus on safety protocols, possess physical stamina, and exhibit excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Safely load and unload PVC materials from delivery trucks and storage areas.
- Inspect incoming PVC materials for damages and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Organize and store PVC materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems.
- Operate rail yard equipment to switch, align, and move railcars for loading, unloading, or assembling trains.
- Communicate with engineers, yardmasters, and other team members to ensure smooth railcar movements.
- Oversee the operations of track switches (visually check switch condition and direction) to change the direction of the engine or cars within yard limits or on the main railroad; apply or release hand brakes to switch or perform other duties
- Perform coupling and uncoupling of railcars.
- Inspect railcars and tracks for safety hazards and report issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with company safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment to transport PVC materials within the facility.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues promptly.
- Adhere to all company policies and regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- TWIC card required.
- Railcar loading experience required.
- Switchman experience preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to work on feet for prolonged hours, walking on unlevel ground
- Familiarity with operating forklifts and other equipment.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Must be able to pass Pre Employment Drug Screening.
- Must have reliable transportation.
