Job Description

Position Summary

QA Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all aspects regarding the quality assurance and food safety of all raw materials and finished goods are documented and performed correctly. This role will also lead and train the QA team and oversee processes involving production, quality assurance, and training.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Reviews daily records for conformance to traceability, good documentation, FIFO, and other quality/ food safety policies.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of lot numbers, usage, return to inventory, finished product weights and counts.
  • Reviews food handling and storage practices for conformance to HACCP and BRC standards. 
  • Performs verification activities for production, maintenance, shipping & receiving, sanitation, and quality per HACCP and BRC requirements.
  • Trains on all food safety policies including HACCP and food defense for production staff.
  • Acts as back up for QA Manager or QA Technician as needed.
  • Reports any deviations to applicable management and enacts corrective actions.
  • Ensure sanitary, safe, and good working conditions of all equipment and facility areas.
  • Participate in GMP inspections, Internal Audits, Mock Recalls, and management meetings.
  • Monitors and evaluates retained samples and lab samples.
  • Able to identify deviations and enact corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead QA team to include training, schedule creation, and problem-solving.

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s Degree required, plus 3+ years’ experience in food production w/emphasis on Quality Assurance 

OR

8+ years food production experience with emphasis on Quality Assurance and leadership

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and BRC
  • HACCP and Internal Auditing Certification recommended.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Flexibility in working schedule to include second shift when needed
  • Excellent attention to detail and good organization
  • Capable of working independently to a production schedule
  • Proficient in bilingual communication (Spanish)
