Are you a hands-on problem solver with an eye for detail and an interest in concrete quality? We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our team in a full-time, permanent, field-based position at our Krugerville Plant. In this role, you will support our ready-mix operations through material testing, mix monitoring, job site inspections, and quality troubleshooting. You will ensure that our ready-mix concrete meets company and industry standards by performing field and laboratory testing, troubleshooting concrete performance issues, and providing technical support to production and operations teams.
What you will be doing
- Conduct quality control tests on ready-mix concrete, including slump, air content, unit weight, and strength testing
- Conduct quality control tests on aggregates, including sieve analysis, sand equivalent, and materials finer than #200 (decant) testing
- Sample and test raw materials such as cement, fly ash and admixtures for compliance with specifications
- Document and analyze test results, identifying and addressing any inconsistencies or deviations
- Assist in developing and modifying concrete mix designs to meet project specifications
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and company-specific quality standards
- Maintain calibration and proper operation of testing equipment
- Support the implementation of quality control and safety policies and procedures
- Enter test data into data management system
- Follow proper company policies, procedures, laws, and regulations including OSHA safety and quality standards
What we would like from you
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in construction materials, engineering, or a related field is an asset
- 1+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete quality control, construction materials testing, or a related field is preferred
- ACI or TxDOT certifications are preferred, or willingness to obtain them
- Strong understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and testing procedures
- Ability to interpret technical data, document results, and prepare reports
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Location and other key details:
- This is a full-time permanent field-based position at our Krugerville Plant
- The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 or more hours per week
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- This is a safety sensitive position, offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of fitness for duty assessments, including drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, vests, and glasses, ear plugs, and hard hats, with additional PPE for special jobs as required
- Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling as needed
Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.00 / hour
