We design, develop, manufacture and deliver VTOL Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and an ecosystem of related products and services. Our business directly addresses the Defense and Security markets in North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America. We currently have an opening for a Director of Quality. This position reports to the CEO.
The Director of Quality is responsible for leading the company’s quality strategy, quality systems, and quality operations while maintaining a strong hands-on presence within engineering, manufacturing, and operational activities. This role provides leadership across Quality Engineering, Quality Control, and Continuous Improvement while working directly with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the company's quality strategy, quality management system, and quality operations, including Quality Engineering, Quality Control, Supplier Quality, and Continuous Improvement activities.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout product development, production, and sustainment activities.
- Maintain a strong presence within manufacturing and operational environments, providing hands-on leadership for quality issues, investigations, and corrective action efforts.
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving activities to resolve product, supplier, manufacturing, and field quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Oversee internal audits, external audits, customer audits, certification audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and drive initiatives to improve product quality, operational performance, supplier performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Support product development, New Product Introduction (NPI), design reviews, production readiness activities, and product qualification efforts.
- Establish quality objectives, policies, procedures, and training programs that support business growth and operational excellence.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for major quality concerns, customer issues, and compliance matters.
- Present quality performance, risks, and improvement initiatives to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop quality personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and ownership of quality throughout the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing quality teams, quality systems, or quality functions.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, robotics, autonomous systems, or other highly technical product environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading corrective action, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and quality system initiatives.
- Experience supporting both product development and production environments.
- Strong understanding of quality engineering principles, inspection methodologies, supplier quality, manufacturing quality, and corrective action systems.
- Experience supporting customer audits, certification audits, regulatory audits, and customer quality requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive quality improvements across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations organizations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to balance quality requirements with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with quality management systems, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
- Background check required/U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
