Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of precision-manufactured cold heading and extrusion tooling, including punches, dies, and related components. This position supports all aspects of the quality management system, from supplier quality and incoming inspection through final product verification and customer support.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality documentation including inspection plans, control plans, first article inspections, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Support and maintain the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ensuring compliance through documentation, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct supplier quality evaluations, audits, and manage supplier corrective actions to improve supplier performance.
- Investigate internal and customer quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Lead nonconformance management activities, including documentation, containment, disposition, and corrective action implementation.
- Maintain accurate quality records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports, including inspection data, calibration status, nonconformances, and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to improve manufacturing processes, reduce scrap, and support new product introductions.
- Support customer quality requirements including complaint investigations, corrective action responses, and quality documentation.
- Ensure inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and process capability.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in a precision manufacturing or machining environment; experience with tooling, dies, or high-precision components is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Experience maintaining and auditing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, precision manufacturing, and inspection methods.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and product specifications.
- Experience using manual precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, bore gages, and optical comparators. Experience with CMM inspection is a plus.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action methodologies, and statistical process control (SPC) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality management software.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
- Experience working with cold heading tooling, extrusion tooling, carbide tooling, or other precision tool manufacturing.
- Experience with PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and process capability studies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and electronic quality management systems (QMS).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent use of precision measuring equipment and computer systems.
- Manual dexterity required for handling small precision components.
