Job Description

Why join Giga

  • The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
  • The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
  • The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
  • The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.

What you'll do

Giga Energy builds mission-critical power infrastructure for AI datacenters — switchboards, panelboards, unit substations, and modular data centers delivered to hyperscaler customers across North America. As a Quality Technician, you will be embedded on the manufacturing floor at our Long Beach, CA location, executing the day-to-day inspection and documentation work that keeps our product quality high and our shipments to and from California on spec.

This is a hands-on role. You will follow established inspection plans, perform incoming and outgoing quality inspections, document findings accurately, and flag issues in real time. You will be working closely with the Quality Engineer and directly with production operators on the floor. We want someone who takes ownership, pays attention to the details that matter, and is eager to learn and grow within a quality organization that is being built from the ground up.

Where you'll work

This position is based in our Long Beach, CA location.

Responsibilities

Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

  •     Inspect incoming raw materials and components against drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria
  •     Execute AQL-based sampling plans; make accept/reject decisions on incoming lots
  •     Record inspection results accurately in the quality system — dimensions, visual observations, lot details
  •     Place non-conforming materials on hold, tag and quarantine per procedure, and notify the Quality Manager
  •     Verify material certifications, certificates of conformance, and test reports match the purchase order

In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)

  •     Perform in-process inspections at defined checkpoints per the quality control plan
  •     Monitor critical operations — fabrication, welding, surface treatment, assembly — and record findings in real time
  •     Identify non-conformances during production and communicate them to the line supervisor and Quality Manager immediately
  •     Support operators in understanding quality requirements and following visual work instructions

Outgoing Quality Control (OQC)

  •     Perform final inspection of finished assemblies before shipment to California using defined checklists
  •     Verify dimensional, visual, and functional checks are complete and within acceptance criteria
  •     Confirm all required documentation is complete and accurate before release — CoC, test records, packing list
  •     Apply release labels or hold tags as appropriate; never release a unit without Quality Manager sign-off on open issues

First Article Inspection (FAI) Support

  •     Assist the Quality Manager in executing FAIs on new or revised fabricated parts
  •     Balloon drawings, record measurements, and compile FAI data packages under direct supervision
  •     Operate measuring instruments — calipers, micrometers, gauges — accurately and consistently

Documentation & Data

  •     Maintain clear, complete, and accurate inspection records for every lot, batch, and unit inspected
  •     Log non-conformances, defect types, quantities, and disposition in the quality tracking system
  •     File and organize quality records so they are traceable and retrievable at any time
  •     Contribute to weekly defect summaries and quality data reports prepared by the Quality Manager

Continuous Improvement & Learning

  •     Participate in root cause investigations — describe what you observed, when, and where with precision
  •     Follow corrective actions and verify effectiveness at your inspection station
  •     Proactively flag patterns you notice — recurring defects, process variations, recurring supplier issues
  •     Actively pursue learning: ask questions, study product drawings, and develop your quality knowledge over time

Requirements

  •     1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality, inspection, or production role
  •     Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances
  •     Hands-on experience using basic measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, gauges, tape measures
  •     Strong attention to detail — you notice things others miss and you document exactly what you see
  •     Disciplined about paperwork and data entry — accurate records are non-negotiable in this role
  •     Comfortable working on a factory floor, standing for extended periods, and working alongside production operators
  •     Fluent in English for quality reports and communication with leadership
  •     Honest and direct — willing to flag a problem even when it creates friction with production

Bonus points

  • Bachelors in Engineering
  • Experience in electrical, metal fabrication, bus bars or panel assembly manufacturing
  • Exposure to FAI processes, control plans, or quality management systems
  • Basic understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
  • Experience using measurement tools: digital calipers, height gauge, radial gauge etc.

Benefits

  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Parental leave
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Commuter benefits
  • Team on-sites where all offices come in–person to collaborate
