Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Rail Welder to join our railroad maintenance and construction team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in thermite welding, rail repair, track maintenance, and railroad construction activities. This position requires a safety-focused professional capable of performing high-quality welds both on-track and off-track while supporting various railroad maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare rail components, frogs, and switches for welding and repair operations.
- Perform thermite welding on-track and off-track in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain frogs, switches, and other track components.
- Assist with railroad track maintenance and construction projects.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret work orders, specifications, and railroad construction plans.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and railroad industry standards.
- Conduct quality inspections of completed welds and repairs.
- Work in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required
- Proven experience as a Rail Welder.
- Extensive Travel
- Extensive experience performing Thermite Welds.
- Experience repairing and welding frogs and switches.
- Knowledge of railroad track structure, maintenance, and construction practices.
- Ability to safely use welding equipment, grinders, and rail maintenance tools.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience operating railroad maintenance and construction equipment.
- Railroad construction experience.
- Certifications related to rail welding or railroad maintenance.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
