A member of the quality assurance team of the technical services department, a food service division at Lyons Magnus, an international food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. The Raw Material Technician is responsible for supporting in the areas of the analytical testing of products, sanitary sampling, grading of processed foods according to specifications and related activities in a manner that supports the operations of production of the organization at the Walton, KY plant


Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Every other Saturday, work may vary)

(Weekend OT as needed)

Location: Walton, KY

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supports the mission, values and vision of the company.

  • Work with employees of Lyons Magnus in a positive and constructive manner to maintain a professional relationship. Demonstrates courtesy, discretion, friendliness and diplomacy.
  • Works within a team environment to share information and help others as needed.
  • Responsible for analytical testing including: Brix, pH, T.A and absorbance/transmittance using a spectrophotometer for all raw materials as specified.
  • Perform preparation and sensory evaluation of raw materials for all loads and samples received.
  • Conduct Aseptic/Sanitary sampling of incoming ingredients (fruits, juices, dry powders, liquid sweeteners, milks, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate and precise records (hard copy and RM database) of all sampled materials including lot codes and analytical results.
  • Report results that fall out of specifications to the Supply Chain Quality Manager and Quality Control Lab Manager at all times.
  • Assist in restricting products based on evaluation against specifications.
  • Set up and calibrate lab equipment as needed. Notify supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other functions at the direction of the Supply Chain Quality Manager and Quality Managers or Supervisors, to include back-up to the PQG team lead when needed.
Requirements


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proven track record of organizational, planning prioritizing, record keeping and time management skills.
  • Ability to walk, climb, lift and carry as needed for sampling of raw materials.
  • Attention to detail in recording and filing information for each raw material.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in within food beverage manufacturing.
  • Experience with fruit grading and aseptic sampling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to maintain accurate and legible documentation.
