Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regional Leadership: Oversees clinical and administrative operations, ensuring strict adherence to internal policies, ANA ethical standards, and NCCHC/ACA benchmarks.
  • Staff Management: Directs recruitment, selection, performance evaluations, and support mentorship and succession planning efforts throughout the region. Ensure staff assignments align with professional competency and educational standards.
  • Quality & Compliance: Develops regional performance goals, revise and collaborate on operational policies, and maintain documentation integrity through systematic chart reviews.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Acts as the primary health services liaison to executive and administrative stakeholders. Proactively mitigate operational risks and resolve service gaps.
  • Professionalism: Models ethical leadership, maintain strict patient confidentiality, and foster collaborative relationships across the regional network.
  • Partners with facility leadership to develop and implement action plans that address operational, clinical, staffing and compliance challenges.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic nursing initiatives that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Travel regularly to assigned facilities, including overnight travel as needed, to provide onsite leadership, support and operational oversight.
  • Participates in required company training, leadership development programs, compliance education, and continuing professional development activities.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local regulations, and company policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Responds to urgent operational or clinical issues outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Assists with onsite training, evaluations and monthly staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH’s goals, objectives and values.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, standards of practice, and evidence-based patient care.
  • Strong background in acute and chronic disease management, infection control, and emergency response.
  • Strong experience with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare management software.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor nursing staff, ensuring proper patient care and adhere to protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced correctional healthcare environment.
  • Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with leadership, staff, patients, the public and external partners.
  • Possess strong judgment, discretion, flexibility and integrity.
  • Ability to quickly assess medical emergencies and implement appropriate interventions effectively and calmly.
  • Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations, balancing medical care with security concerns.
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-up and timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex human resources issues and challenges

 

Requirements

 

 

Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years in nursing and healthcare, with demonstrated success in multi-site and high-acuity settings.
  • Five (5) years of clinical or regional program management experience.
  •  OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

 

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Must have and maintain an active, unrestricted Registered Nursing (RN) license in the State of Georgia
  • Must have and maintain a current BLS Certification

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • ·   Experience in correctional, jail, or secure forensic environments.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a correctional healthcare environment with exposure to noise, communicable diseases, controlled access areas, and unpredictable conditions. Employees must comply with all safety, security, infection control, and emergency response protocols. Summary

 

 

The Regional Director of Nursing is responsible for the clinical and administrative leadership for nursing operations across the region. This critical leadership role will also bridge corporate strategy and site-level execution, ensuring standardized, high-performing, and compliant nursing services through clinical consultation and continuous quality improvement. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Nursing.
