The primary purpose of the registered dietician is providing and directing nutrition consultation to the health care team and dietary services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This consultant shall evaluate and monitor food service systems and make recommendations for change and improvement in accordance with state regulations.
- The consultant shall advise the appropriate personnel regarding changes to the food service facilities.
- The consultant shall recommend and monitor standards for sanitation, safety, and food preparation.
- The consultant shall assist the health care team concerning the nutritional care of the residents at the facility
- The consultant shall, upon request, provide dietary service to a resident in the facility in accordance with Physician’s orders.
- The consultant shall chart nutritional information in accordance with accepted professional practice.
- The consultant shall make appropriate referrals and recommendations for continuing nutritional care of the residents.
Qualifications and Experience:
- B.S. degree in nutrition and/or dietetics from a program approved by the American Dietetic Association.
- A minimum of two years clinical experience in nutrition and dietetics.
- Currently licensed as a registered Dietitian/Nutritionist in the State of Rhode Island.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
- Keeps current on the latest changes in therapeutic diets.
- Knowledge of management of illness through therapeutic diets.
