The Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process within an assigned unit; assesses, treats and care for patients demonstrating an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Oversees the work of other professional and non-professional personnel.
Education: Registered Nurse Diploma required.
Licensure: RN state license required.
Experience:
1 to 3 years preferred.
Cancer Center
- Oncology certification preferred (RN Only)
- Two years experience in acute care nursing with minimum one year experience in oncology preferred.
- Knowledge of oncology treatments and side effect management preferred.
- BLS within 3 months of hire.
- Daily use of a non-waived analytical instrument (CBC Analyzer). Testing personnel must meet the regulatory requirements for assessment of competency within 3 years of hire.
- Medical Oncology RN only - ONS/ONCC Immunotherapy/Chemotherapy Certification Course required within 1 year of hire.
- Medical Oncology LPN ONLY works under supervision of ONS/ONCC Immunotherapy/Chemotherapy certified RN
