The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to work as a Registered Nurse in the Correctional Health Services Division. If you would like an opportunity to join a team of passionate individuals who work hard in providing quality medical care, this is the job for you.

Please note: An offer of employment will be contingent on the applicant successfully passing a DHHS background
check and pre-employment drug testing, and a Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) background screening.

  • Provide professional nursing care to the inmate population at the Utah State Correctional Facility.
  • Administer medications as ordered by a CHS Medical Provider.
  • Assess and triage patients requesting healthcare services.
  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients with urgent medical conditions.
  • Maintains and updates patient charts, records, and information.

 

Supplemental Information

  • Licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Utah.   Utah Code: 58-31b-301
  • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.

 

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprinting background check and drug screening.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: 

  • Basic life support and advanced cardiac life support certifications
  • Experience in emergency medical services, acute care (medical or psychiatric), or post-acute care (skilled nursing facility, home health or long-term acute care)
