Description
Summary
This position is responsible for promoting public health through activities/services related to: health promotion and education, epidemiological surveillance and disease prevention, immunization, and lab testing/diagnostic and curative care. The position is under the general supervision of the Charge Nurse and/or his/her designee.
Definition and Examples of Work
| 80% | Provide direct public health/nursing services

| 20% | Complete additional support functions; may vary by department

Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills, bilingual preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in basic computer systems and software (e.g., email, timekeeping software, work order inputs)
- Proficient in mathematical functions
- Ability to develop programs through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Ability to function in unstructured setting in a self-directed manner.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of services provided.
- Ability to make decisions independently and use tact and good judgment in dealing with staff and the public.
- Ability to properly use various nursing tools/equipment.
- Ability to provide nursing services in a clinic setting.
- Knowledge of health record-keeping procedures.
- Knowledge of the methods, principles, techniques and practices of public health nursing, and knowledge of public health nursing skills and practices in clinic program areas.
- Knowledge of perinatal health issues, child growth and development, parenting skills, childhood illnesses and injuries
- Valid Driver's License
- Kansas Registered Nurse license
- Ability to obtain Defensive Driving certification
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications
- Occasional overtime
- Occasional travel
- Regular and Reliable attendance onsite at work location
