Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Bright Start Program, supporting women and families during some of the most important moments of their lives. In this role, you will provide evidence-based home visiting nursing services, build trusting relationships, and empower families through education, support, and goal-setting. Working closely with the Division Director, you'll be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to strengthening families, improving outcomes, and supporting healthy beginnings. Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public educational cooperative serving communities across South Dakota through collaborative, people-centered services.

Weekly travel required. Area of coverage is Pennington, Custer, Fall River and Oglala Lakota counties.

Salary/Wage- $31.00 - $35.00 per hour


Job Type- Full-time, non-exempt


Work Location- Rapid City, SD


Job Description-

  • Provide nurse home visiting services to eligible women and families in accordance with the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) model and Bright Start program standards
  • Maintain an assigned caseload; complete required documentation; and adhere to all program policies, procedures, and training requirements
  • Develop therapeutic relationships using reflective practice and motivational interviewing; assess client strengths and needs; and support goal setting
  • Promote Bright Start through community outreach, referral development, and participation in advisory and partner activities
  • Assess clients, formulate nursing diagnoses, and plan and evaluate home visits based on client goals and program outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in accordance with agency and HIPAA standards; participate in data review and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Qualifications-

  • This position requires an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, BSN preferred. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota.
  • Registered Nurses with experience in public/community health (including home visitation), maternal and child health in community settings, and work with diverse populations and organizations are preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, partners, and communities; manage deadlines; and support project tracking and reporting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete technical documentation, problem-solve, and support process improvement and performance monitoring
  • Proficiency with computers, databases, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
