Essential Job Functions


  • Provide education, training, and support to health information systems users
  • Develop and deliver training programs for the health information technology, including creating manuals and training guides
  • Submit and track Enterprise Help Desk tickets for system users as health information systems issues arise   from meetings, training sessions, and clinical supervisors
  • Analyze information system data to improve services, reduce errors, and improve workflows
  • Lead specific projects related to Nursing Informatics through design, testing, validation, and integration   with enterprise and local leaders and subject matter experts
  • Facilitate communication among clinical staff, systems engineers, and analysts on informatics projects
  • Facilitate organizational change management, including developing strategies, policies, or procedures for introducing, evaluating, and modifying the application of information technology to clinical practice, administration, education, and research


Requirements


The position is open to all permanent County of Los Angeles employees who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and currently hold the payroll title of REGISTERED NURSE II.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in the electronic health record, informatics, and/or Cerner/Oracle applications with at least 3 years of experience in the practice of professional nursing
  • Ability to manage the change process in a positive manner using excellent communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including translation between technical and clinical language
  • Excellent problem-solving and investigative skills—a critical-thinker willing to think from other perspectives and think outside the box for new ways to complete the same task
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills with positive attitude, high motivation, detail- and result-oriented
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, handle complaints, and negotiate with workforce members
  • Ability to use MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Snagit, MS PowerPoint independently
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent assignments
