About the Department

The hours for the current opening at Iowa Correctional Institution for Women (ICIW) is 1pm-11pm and 9pm-7am with every other weekend off. 

Work/life balance is very important to us. 
We offer 10-hour shift scheduling with 2-3 days off in a row without working more than 3-4 days.

This position is eligible for a $3000 recruitment bonus!
NOTE: Current state employees are not eligible for recruitment payments upon transfer, demotion, or promotion to another agency

This position
Performs Registered Nurse duties in a correctional facility
Performs professional nursing role similar to outpatient services in the community.

Registered nurses participate in the management of the nursing care of patients within a health care environment; provide clinical leadership and assist practitioners; plans and conducts educational sessions, including teaching that requires a registered nursing license; administers medication, triage patient complaints and coordinates the care of residents in a correctional environment with multi-disciplinary team which includes physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, optometrists and dentists

This position is located in Mitchellville at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
