PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Directly responsible for overseeing operations at assigned elementary, middle, or high school before or after school programs. 


Site Lead is responsible for the supervision of the Youth Leader, the development and implementation of daily activities, the scheduling of staff members, and assisting with administrative duties. They ensure the safety and quality of their before or after school program in all aspects.

 

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

 

Prepare Youth for Success

  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development 

Outcomes:

    • Promote and stimulate program participation with members.
    • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
    • Provide homework help and academic support. 


Program Implementation

  • Effectively implement and administer services and activities for students.
  • Ensure safety of students is considered when implementing programs and activities.
  • Ensure program space/area are organized and cleaned during and after use.

 

Supervision of Youth

  • Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to youth.
  • Provide a safe environment through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas.
  • Never leaving members unsupervised and implement and follow School behavioral guidelines.


Professionalism

  • Provide leadership and supervision to program staff.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings as required by supervisor or senior staff. 
  • Maintain a good reputation and moral conduct outside of work, in the community and on social media networks.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the organization’s Employee Handbook, Staff Code of Ethics, and elsewhere. 


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • May be required to drive club van periodically.


RELATIONSHIPS:

 

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

 

External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or GED Required, AA/AS Preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in youth development.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of youth development stages.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older.


Commitment to Safety 


  • Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.
  • Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
  • Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices.
  • Valid State Driver License or California ID card.
  • Must clear TB, Drug Screen and Fingerprint check.
  • CPR & First Aid Certifications within 90 of hire.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, sports equipment, etc. and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi task. The job requires about 85% walking and/or standing, and 15% office work and prepping site. This position will be in-person working at a school site. Exposure to noise. Will work inside and outside.
