    QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of basic kitchen and food serving utensils and equipment; basic methods of food preparation; basic cleaning methods and procedures; basic stores/concessions operation.

     

    Must possess the skill to learn and effectively apply proper sanitation and safety requirements associated with food preparation and serving operations; understand and follow both oral and written instructions; learn to operate assigned nutrition services appliances and equipment in a safe and effective manner; read at a level sufficient to perform assigned duties; perform routine mathematical calculations accurately; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; supervise student workers; establish and maintain a variety of records and logs; communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Must meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties, also obtain and maintain Food Safety Certification.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    • participates in the operation of the snack bar, including the supervision and training of student assistants in proper operation and maintenance of a snack bar
    • works in collaboration with a school administrator or designee to ensure adequate stock on hand, menu selection and pricing, and addresses other snack bar questions
    • maintains contact with appropriate vendors to change standing delivery orders/amounts when directed and picks up order as needed
    • communicates staffing needs to a school administrator or designee
    • maintains the snack bar in a clean and orderly manner
    • maintains positive customer relations and interactions and reports customer concerns/situations in a timely manner and/or asks for assistance to problem-solve concerns
    • maintains a running inventory of stock on hand including both perishable and non-perishable items
    • reports need for nutrition services machines/equipment and cash register maintenance
    • assists in the preparation of all foods such as sandwiches, salads, and entrees
    • portions food into individual servings per established guidelines
    • sets up serving counters and tables with food items and supplies and assists in the serving of foods to students and faculty
    • cleans serving counters, dining tables, food containers, and other equipment and disposes of refuse
    • washes trays, plates, utensils, and other serving equipment
    • stores dishes, trays, pots and pans, utensils, food items, kitchen equipment, and disposes of refuse
    • packages and stores leftovers
    • performs cashiering duties; receiving money, making change, closing out cash boxes, etc. as assigned
    • assists other nutrition services employees as needed to ensure that food is prepared on time and in a safe and sanitary manner
    • counts a variety of food items and maintains accurate records of quantities received, sold, left over, etc.
    • starts up and closes snack bar each school year
    • performs related duties as required

     

     

    A PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK IS REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

     

     

    DUTIES OF POSITION: To assist with the operation of the ROC snack bar, including the preparation of food items and maintaining the nutrition services equipment and facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition. Responsibilities also include assisting with maintenance of adequate stock and inventory. Employees in this classification receive direct to general supervision of snack bar operation from a school administrator or designee within a well-defined framework of standard policies and procedures.

     

     

     

    STARTING SALARY:              $2,099.89 (monthly)

     

    NUMBER OF MONTHS:         9.4 (to begin as soon as possible)

     

    NUMBER OF HOURS:            6 (daily working hours 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
