Job Description

Job Overview



To ensure that all rolls are ground to specification, plan daily activities of the shop and communicate needs of Rolling Mill with minimal supervision.



 



Responsibilities and Duties




  • The incumbent shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

  • Ensures the safe operations of all equipment relating to the Roll Shop. 

  • Grinds drills on the WS600 and WS300 roll grinders. 

  • Installs rolls and documents specifications on finish, size, crown and uniformity. 

  • Uses hand tools, slings and overhead crane for machine change over, rolls assembly and disassembly. 

  • Cleans grinder, its components and immediate work areas. 

  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor and routine maintenance of equipment.

  • Inspects grinder regularly to ensure machinery is in good working condition. 

  • Inspects cranes regularly to insure safe operation.

  • Assists Roll Grinder in assembly and disassembly of all rolls, including preventive maintenance duties and documentation of the activities. 

  • Coordinates roll shop related matters with rolling mills

  • Uses SPC to monitor roll shop activities

  • Continuous inspection of all work must be constantly alert of surroundings due to use of overhead cranes to move heavy rolls and chocks, thus eliminating safety hazards.
