Job Description





The Ruby on Rails Developer is responsible for developing new applications, enhancing existing applications, and interfacing with a legacy ERP system. The Ruby on Rails Developer works closely with the Business Systems Manager, Information Systems team, and IT Manager to create applications that improve productivity across the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write, clean, maintainable, and efficient code
  • Design robust, scalable, and secure features
  • Analyzes business application requirements and user specifications
  • Works closely with legacy ERP developers to integrate and interface ERP functionality on the Ruby platform
  • Assists in writing Statements of Work for application programming
  • Ensures that application development aligns with Statement of Work and minimizes scope creep
  • Estimates project timelines, identifies complexity, and communicates effectively in all phases of the project
  • Revises and updates applications and documentation as required
  • Documents code and systems
  • Performs any other task as requested by Manager

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred
  • 2+ Years of Ruby on Rails experience required
  • 2+ Years of Vue.js or similar front end framework
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, or GitHub
  • Experience with test-driven development a plus
  • Knowledge of Linux and command line tools
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP Systems and other Database programs, preferred
  • Knowledge of network concepts and principles including operating systems, security, and advanced protocol
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analysis
  • Strong project management skills
