Duties

You will plan, develop, direct, coordinate, administer and evaluate TRAWING wide Safety and Occupational Health and ground safety programs to Occupational Safety and Health Act, Department of Defense, and Department of the Navy requirements.,You will ensure efficient interface of SOH programs throughout the organization to meet command policy, program and mission requirements.,You will ensure efficient interface of SOH programs throughout the organization to meet command policy, program and mission requirements.,You will work under the general supervision of the TRAWING ONE Safety Officer.,You will provide technical guidance, recommendations, and assistance to management and the workforce on established safety methods and techniques.,You will provide support to the TRAWING ONE Safety Officer in administering the Air Wing’s Safety Programs, with primary emphasis on Aviation Safety, Ground/Occupational Health Safety Programs, analyzing safety plans.,You will provide technical safety training to supervisors and employees using a wide variety of materials, publications, exhibits, protective devices, and visual aids.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting surveys of aviation and ground safety operations (e.g., work processes, facility/hanger, equipment, materials) to identify and evaluate hazardous conditions; investigating and determining causal factors contributing to mishaps or incidents; and preparing safety instructions or guides to educate employees in safe operating practices or techniques. For the GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting surveys of aviation or ground safety operations (e.g., work processes, facility/hanger, equipment, materials) to identify and evaluate hazardous conditions; investigating mishaps or incidents; and educating employees in safe operating practices or techniques. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:GS-11: Successful completion of a a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/unique-hiring-paths/students/federal-occupations-by-college-major/; or A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience GS-9: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or Successful completion of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled. https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/unique-hiring-paths/students/federal-occupations-by-college-major/; or A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
