Job Description

Department:   Sales

Reports to:     Sales Manager

 Purpose:

Sells new and used agricultural and turf equipment to new and existing customers while providing excellent customer service.

 Responsibilities: 

  1. Represents the company for the sale of machinery to all customers in a defined sales area. 
  2. Maintains all customer information in assigned territory by entering customer contact information daily in Customer Relationship Management program.
  3. Represents the company for the sale of machinery to walk-in customers, takes sales leads and forwards information to the appropriate salesman.
  4. Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all equipment potentially saleable by the dealership. 
  5. Monitors trends in customer’s business activities and provides timely communication to management.
  6. Monitors competitive activity/products and timely communicates to management.
  7. Follows up on all leads and referrals.
  8. Prepares sales presentations, proposals and completes all paperwork in a timely fashion.
  9. Maintains current knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes.
  10. Maintains assigned company vehicles and equipment.
  11. Assists with the preparation and execution of customer events.
  12. Conducts equipment field demonstrations. 
  13. Maintains current knowledge of financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods.
  14. Attends company sales meetings and participates in meeting discussion.
  15. Attends applicable sales training events/seminars.
  16. Knows and follows a defined sales process.
  17. Assists with the preparation and execution of customer events.
  18. Ensures marketing strategy includes components to support Critical Success Factors.
  19. Coordinates daily work schedule with location manager.
  20. Displays a positive attitude and optimism when taking on new tasks.
  21.  Cooperates with all employees in all departments and communicates effectively to ensure a productive work environment.

 Requirements: 

  1. Excellent customer relationship skills.
  2. 1+ years equipment sales experience.
  3. Knowledge of agricultural or turf equipment and farming or operational practices preferred .
  4. Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  5. Solid organizational, interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours and travel to store locations and customers.
  7. Valid drivers license.
  8. Associates degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Business, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Mechanization or equivalent experience required.
  9. Bachelors Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Business, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Mechanization or equivalent experience preferred.
  10. Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports.
