Our team members are our most valuable resource and growth is encouraged through diligence, teamwork & creativity. Above all, there is the highest standard of honesty and integrity when conducting business. Find out why we are a step above the rest! Apply today!

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

The Salesperson exists to guide customers through one of the most significant purchases of their lives — buying a vehicle — while driving gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction across Step One Automotive Group's dealership locations.

This role is the primary face of the dealership on the showroom floor and sales lot. Salespeople are responsible for the full customer journey: from initial greeting and needs discovery through vehicle selection, demonstration, negotiation, financing handoff, delivery, and long-term follow-up.

This is a performance-driven position. Success is measured in gross profit, units sold, and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores. Every customer interaction is an opportunity to build a long-term relationship that generates repeat and referral business for the dealership.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role means every customer leaves the dealership with confidence in their purchase, their salesperson, and their decision to do business with Step One.

The Salesperson will:

  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly unit sales and gross profit targets

  • Deliver a best-in-class customer experience from first contact through post-delivery follow-up

  • Maintain a high CSI score that reflects genuine customer satisfaction at every touchpoint

  • Build a personal prospect and owner follow-up system that drives repeat and referral business

  • Complete all required OEM and SOAG training monthly, earning and maintaining manufacturer certifications

  • Execute every deal with accuracy — proper paperwork, finance handoff, delivery, and title processing

  • Introduce every customer to the Service Department to establish a long-term relationship with the store

  • Operate with integrity, professionalism, and full compliance with federal, state, and local automotive retail laws

SKILLS & CAPABILITIES

  • Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills

  • Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain trust throughout a multi-step sales process

  • Working knowledge of automotive products, features, financing concepts, and trade-in valuation

  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws governing retail automotive sales

  • Ability to manage multiple customers and deals simultaneously without losing attention to detail

  • Comfort with dealership-specific software, CRM/lead management systems, and follow-up tools

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard business communication tools

  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and discretion in all customer and team interactions

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk the lot, and lift up to 30 pounds

PHYSICAL / OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primary work location: Step One Automotive Group dealership locations (Florida Panhandle)

  • Role requires extended periods of standing and walking while assisting customers on the showroom floor and sales lot

  • Must be able to sit for sustained periods when working at a desk, phone, or computer

  • Requires sufficient dexterity to type, reach, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds

  • Fast-paced retail automotive environment with daily performance expectations and monthly cycle accountability

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk the lot, and lift up to 30 pounds

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Prior automotive sales experience preferred; motivated candidates without experience will be considered

  • Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
