About the Department

The purpose of this position is to serve as the City’s primary point of contact for the City’s trash, recycling, brush, and bulk waste services under the supervision of the Director of Community Services & External Affairs. The Sanitation Coordinator serves as the primary liaison with the City’s current waste vendor, Republic Services.
Position Duties
- Reviews and processes solid waste collection invoices; completes clerical assignments by emailing and copying documents, files/scans documents, typing, printing, and distributing correspondence and mail; prepares formal letters, reports, spreadsheets, responds to Open Records Requests and other written communication;
- Coordinates communication strategies for all changes in service, delays in service, or education campaigns regarding trash service;
- Coordinates bulk/brush pick up scheduling, monitors compliance, and coordinates with Code Enforcement Division;
- Compiles monthly performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders;
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Two years of experience in the administrative or clerical field
- Valid Texas Driver’s License

- Ability to plan, organize, and multitask; able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks to ensure all assigned work is accomplished.
- Skill in the operation and use of standard office software, which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products.
- Ability to use multi-line telephone system.
- Proficient in using computers for data entry.

Employees participate in a statewide retirement program at 7% contribution with a city match of 2:1.
Five years vesting, 20 years retirement at any age.
Vacation
Non-civil service employees accrue 6.67 hours per month (2 weeks per year).
All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).
All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).
Sick Leave
Non-civil service employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).
All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).

Holidays
Non-civil service employees receive 13 paid holidays per year including one personal or "floating" day.
Longevity Pay
Earned at a rate of $4 per month.
This is calculated on number of years of service up to and including 25 years (maximum $1200).

Worker's compensation coverage is provided for all employees.
Fire/Police
Eligible for Education/Certification pay.
Deferred Compensation Plans- Mass Mutual/Empower
Payroll deduction for employee participation. City does not contribute.
