Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized university or School of nursing.
- Must be licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Integrity and a commitment to ethical practices.
- Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth of children and potential health problems at each developmental stage.
- Skilled in first aid and management of minor ailments in children.

The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKES, Kenya) operates 5 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both national and international curricula. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.
We are seeking to fill the position of School Nurse (Maternity Cover). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing healthcare services and support to ensure a healthy and safe environment for both staff and students at the Aga Khan Primary School, Kisumu (AKPSK) and the Aga Khan Nursery School, Kisumu (AKNSK).

Key Responsibilities
We are seeking to fill the position of School Nurse (Maternity Cover). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing healthcare services and support to ensure a healthy and safe environment for both staff and students at the Aga Khan Primary School, Kisumu (AKPSK) and the Aga Khan Nursery School, Kisumu (AKNSK).
Positions: School nurse- Maternity Cover
Key Responsibilities
- To support the health and well-being of students and staff by providing first aid, managing minor illnesses and injuries, responding to medical emergencies, administering prescribed medication, maintaining confidential medical records and supporting students with special health needs.
- To promote preventive health education, infection control, hygiene awareness, nutrition, mental well-being and timely referral to external healthcare providers where required.
- To work closely with students, parents, teachers, administrators, healthcare providers and public health officials to ensure the school remains a safe, healthy and supportive learning environment.
- To assist in monitoring health risks, maintaining medical supplies, supporting school health procedures and upholding emergency response and safeguarding protocols.
- Takes lead in health promotion and screening programs in the school and is conversant with referral procedures to health providers.
- Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene etc.
