About the Department
The Prince George’s County Trap and Skeet Center is seeking a Customer Service staff member to assist in the daily operations of one of the largest shotgun facilities in the country. This role is vital to ensuring a safe, polite, and efficient environment for our patrons across various clay target sports, including Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays. The center is a public facility owned and operated by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). Our amenities include a clubhouse, pro shop, 9 Skeet Fields, 6 Trap Fields, 20 Sporting Clay stations, and specialized international fields.

Position Duties
Safety Enforcement: Educate, monitor, and enforce safe behavior and mandatory eye/ear protection for all patrons.
Field Management: Assist in managing Trap, Skeet, or Sporting Clays fields, ensuring patrons are shooting correctly and following game-specific rules.
Customer Service: Greet patrons politely, answer phone calls within three rings, and assist shooters with rental gun operations.
Operational Readiness: Perform opening and closing duties, including taking inventory of targets, filling machines, cleaning hulls, and emptying trash.
Administrative Tasks: Collect tickets from shooters before rounds begin and accurately report daily field counts.
Facility Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness of the clubhouse, restrooms, and outdoor pavilions.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Must be at least 18 years of age (required for handling ammo, tickets, or rental equipment).
Must possess strong communication skills and a polite demeanor.
Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
Preferred
Knowledge of shotgun clay target sports (Trap, Skeet, or Sporting Clays).
Prior experience in customer service
Possession of a Trap and Skeet First Shot Safety Ticket
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Safety-Minded: Ability to identify and address unsafe acts or gun malfunctions immediately.
Attentive: Ability to observe multiple fields and monitor shooter actions closely.
Reliable: Proven track record of punctuality and following a strict work schedule.
Other Qualifications
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
Work hours
Seasonal year-round facility.
Standard shifts may involve relief at 4:00 pm or evening shifts until shooting ceases at 8:30 pm.
Must be available to work weekends, as programs like "First Shot" occur on Saturdays and Sundays.
Working Conditions/Environment
Shotgun sports take place in all weather conditions, ranging from extreme heat (110°F) to cold winter winds (30°F).
Employees must wear provided uniforms and mandatory closed-toe shoes.
The environment involves loud noise (gunfire), requiring constant use of ear protection.

Uniforms Provided: Staff shirts and sweatshirts are provided for all employees to ensure a professional image.

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
