OPEN TO:  The Office of Parental Representation employees with permanent status in the Legal Secretary 2 title and who meet the requirements of the job specification as listed below. This position is in OPR Camden located at 2 Riverside Drive, 4th Floor in Camden, NJ. 

Under supervision, provides secretarial, administrative and clerical support to an assigned assistant division director, bureau chief, or organizational equivalent; types correspondence and reports, prepares letters on routine matters, provides requested information to internal and external customers, maintains a schedule of appointments and the daily engagement calendar of the executive official; utilizes various information systems for daily work assignments used by the agency, office, or related units; does other related duties as required.


Education & Experience


High School Diploma or GED.

Three (3) years of experience in secretarial and administrative clerical work.

NOTE: Successful completion of a clerical training program with a minimum of 700 classroom training hours or thirty (30) semester hour credits in secretarial science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the experience indicated above. Course work must include typing skills, methods, and procedures; other courses may include, but not be limited to, office procedures, word processing, and business English.


License


Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.







Foreign Degrees: Degrees and/or transcripts issued by a college or university outside of the United States must be evaluated for accreditation by a reputable evaluation service at your expense and must be included with your submission prior to the closing date. Failure to do so may result in your ineligibility.

Note: This position may be eligible to work remotely for up to two (2) days in a calendar week.

Residency Law

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act" which became effective September 1, 2011, all persons newly hired by the Executive Branch on or after the date shall have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New Jersey state employees hired prior to September 1, 2011, who transferred from within the Executive Branch or from another State of New Jersey appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days but who reside outside the State of New Jersey, are not required to change their principal residence to New Jersey in order to comply with the Act.

• Earn up to 15 sick days per year, which may be carried from year to year on an unlimited basis. Will also receive 1 additional bereavement day applying to immediate family members, per the new CWA collective bargaining agreement.
• Will receive up to 3 personal days per year (Administrative Leave Days).
• Receives 13 paid Holidays per year.
• As a union, including CWA and other represented employees, and per the most recent collective bargaining agreement ending June 30, 2027, will receive the following salary increases:

 o 3.5% Across the board for each of the 4 years of the contract, beginning July 1, 2023.
 o Continued salary steps each year at approximately 3.7% (1.5 years from step 8 to step 9 and 2 years from step 9 to step 10 and step 10 to step 11).
• Mandatory enrollment in a fixed Pension Plan. Employee contribution is 7.5% of salary. Vested after 10 years.
• May qualify for Telework up to 2 days per week after a period of training and acclimation to the OPD.
