Job Description

 

Essential:

  1. 5 plus years hotel security management experience.
  2. High school graduate or equivalent.
  3. Valid state driver's license.
  4. Able to drive all company vehicles.
  5. Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Ability to provide legible communication and directions.
  6. Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers).
  7. Ability to:

Desirable:

  1. College degree.
  2. Experience with computers, calculators or word processors.
  3. Ability to input and access information in the property management system/Point of Sale system/computers.
  4. Previous guest relations training.
  5. Certification of previous training in computers.
  6. Certification of previous training in alcohol awareness program.
  7. Knowledge of local laws, investigative methods and fire safety.
  8. Certification in CPR and First Aid to include AED.
  9. Knowledge in a second language.

 

Physical Abilities Essentials:

  1. Remain in stationary position for 60 minutes throughout work shift.
  2. Ability to stand and walk on a continuous basis and run as warranted.
  3. Ability to lift, carry and store in overhead areas approximately 25
  4. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb (including stairs and ladders) and reach.
  5. Possession of 20/40 vision, with or without corrective lenses.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental, division and hotel policies, procedures and standards.
  2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  3. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  4. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  5. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  6. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  7. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  8. Maintain complete awareness of:
  • scheduled group activities and house count.
  • hotel facilities and services.
  • hours of operation.
  • facility layout.
  • fire and emergency plans.
  • departmental rules of conduct.
  1. Report any incident to department heads when it concerns their department.
  2. Notify General Manager and Rooms Director regarding any reports involving possible liability.
  3. Brief General Manager and Rooms Director on all matters requiring their attention.
  4. Ensure all Security personnel adhere to corporate, company and department policies, procedures and standards.
  5. Monitor supervision of the entire Security staff.
  6. Determine personnel staffing levels and assign locations.
  7. Continually evaluate subordinates.
  8. Approve scheduled vacations and replacements as needed.
  9. Investigate complaints relative to security personnel.
  10. Manage all fire alarms and emergencies within the property.
  11. Monitor access to Lost and Found and valuable lock-up areas. Monitor control of back up keys to the Executive Offices.  Ensure only authorized individuals are permitted access to this area.
  12. Chair the Safety Committee.
  13. Liaise and maintain open communication with law enforcement, fire department and other regulatory agencies.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Provide interdepartmental assistance upon request to ensure optimum service to guests.
  2. Monitor and approve security service for banquet functions and meeting rooms.
  3. Monitor documented maintenance needs on work orders.
