High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in servicing customers in the manufacturing environment. General industry knowledge, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with a variety of customers and internal departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Play a leading role in the development and execution of TM’s account management strategy (often includes direct management oversight of other Account Managers)and growth plan
• Leading complex accounts that will require the Sr. Account Manager to communicate the best account strategies to upper management and recommending when it is time to add additional team members and functions to the team.
• When managing others, the Sr. Account Manager will also be responsible for developing and training the direct reports in order to ensure premium performance.
• Ensure all of the critical tasks relating this assigned accounts are completed on-time and in budget (requires working closely with and overseeing other internal teams at TM)
• If in a direct management position, the Sr. Account Manager will be responsible for all of the duties below either directly or through direct reports and/or team members.
Business development responsibilities include:
o This position is responsible for securing new business and leading all new business efforts within assigned accounts.
o Establishing good personal and professional relationships with key stake holders across the client’s organization, including: sr. managers, buyers, plant level managers, quality teams, etc.
o Organizing and hosting all client visits to TM facilities (includes working with all internal teams to have requested information prepared and in a professionally presented format)
o Regular travel to client sites to address needs, understand current satisfaction levels and look for new business opportunities
o Solicitation of new business bids
o Work closely with development group to define commercial applications for new technologies
o Set up new product/technology introductions (working with internal technical team)
• Commercial responsibilities include:
o Pricing adjustments – manage the implementation of selling prices and or terms and conditions on an agreed upon frequency (these updates can be attributed but not limited to cost changes in raw materials, labor standards, distribution, and or market conditions)
o When inconsistencies in a program’s quote and the reality of the manufacturing process (cycle times, higher scrap %’s, lower MOQ’s, etc.) arise, the Account Manager will be responsible for negotiating a mutually agreeable resolution. If help from senior management is needed, the account manager must escalate to obtain necessary help.
o Quoting - working with multiple cross-functional departments (quoting team, business development, tooling, automation, operations, etc..) to kick-off and complete the quote on-time
o Lead internal pricing meetings and make recommendations to management to gain internal support and approval for new business bids
o Responsible for submitting final proposal on-time and in a professional format directly to the client
o Presenting proposal and leading client negotiations for program awards
o Responsible for frequent follow up of pending quotes as a means for an eventual award or a rejection
o Responsible for understanding and overseeing specific terms and conditions and/or standards of work within assigned contracts/clients and communicating important expectations / obligations to TM’s internal teams
• Communication responsibilities include:
o Primary escalation point (both externally and internally) for conflict resolution as it relates to aspects of manufacturing, distribution/logistics, and commercial issue and/or negotiations
o Primary liaison between senior management teams internally and with the accounts
o Internally updates management teams on account and program status, forecasts, sales budgets, etc.
o Externally manages customer messaging - newsletters, dashboards, quarterly meetings, etc.
o Facilitate and lead project kick-off meetings where schedules, action items, etc. are communicated and action items are assigned
o Attends internal and client meetings and contributes to decision making and problem solving
