Responsibilities
- Prepare accrual basis financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, actual to budget variance reports, and cash flows for eight (8) to twelve (12) multi-family residential communities
- Perform a property-level accounting month-end close including but not limited to posting journal entries, reviewing expenses for appropriate general ledger coding, creating journal entries for calculated accruals, monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and facilitating review of budget to actual variance with property team
- Compile standardized, monthly financial reporting packages and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare year-end reporting for audit, tax, REIT compliance and benchmarking analysis
- Maintain organized digital financial records
- Utilize and create spreadsheets in Excel for daily tasks
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure accurate and efficient workflow
- Assist with ad hoc requests for financial information and analysis
- Ensure compliance by completing all courses on the Learning Management System by assigned due dates
- Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and consistent attendance record
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience combined with bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Familiarity with US GAAP and accrual basis of accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, OneDrive, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word)
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) property management software such as RealPage, Yardi, and Oracle
- Effectively communicates early, clearly, and often on tasks, questions, and challenges
- High attention to detail with ability to multitask and work independently on a deadline-driven team
- Proactively take ownership of work and follow tasks through to completion without constant oversight
- Remain calm, grounded, and positive when work is complex and time-sensitive
- Required to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and demonstrate professional integrity
