Description
Daily:
- Analyze and maintain the general ledger to ensure the accuracy of A/P coding and cost allocation
- Manage, review and record cash transactions for US Customs and Agents bank accounts
- Review and manage Payables requests from Ops
Monthly:
- Prepare month-end closing journal entries, including supporting schedules and documentation for USA and foreign offices
- Record all monthly and year-end accruals
- Manage and prepare fixed asset accounting and depreciation journal entries
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and distribute recurring financial reporting packages, and KPI analyses for US and foreign offices
- Prepare monthly intercompany billing invoices to foreign offices
Quarterly:
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare quarterly sales and use tax returns
Annually:
- Prepare annual fixed asset roll forward reports
- Prepare and manage annual budget upload templates
- Prepare audit schedules and ensure supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and provided within required deadlines
- Support annual financial statement audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage and file tax and local business and state administrative filings, including property tax reporting, reconciliations, and compliance
- Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Ad hoc:
- Participate in ERP system enhancements, implementations, and process optimization initiatives.
- Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close activities, and financial reporting
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned
- Verify and manage due diligence on domestic Vendor bank details
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Extensive experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (CargoWise and/or GoFreight a plus)
- Preferred intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- CPA License a plus
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Experience with multi-entity and international accounting environments.
- Logistics business experience a major plus
