Senior Accountant
Summary of Role
The Senior Accountant is a key team member in the company’s global accounting team, working with the Accounting Manager to establish a world-class accounting organization. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the detailed review of work prepared by the Center of Excellence (COE) team, ownership of multiple balance sheet reconciliations, and ownership of SG&A and COGS accrual processes. Beyond core close responsibilities, this role plays an active part in process improvement initiatives and in elevating the quality, clarity, and usefulness of financial reporting delivered to other departments. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, a strong critical thinker, and a collaborative team player who raises the standard of accuracy and insight across the team.
How You’ll Succeed
• Perform detailed reviews of journal entries, reconciliations, and other deliverables prepared by the COE team, ensuring accuracy, completeness, proper support, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to the COE team and partner with them to resolve errors at the root cause rather than only correcting them.
• Own and prepare multiple balance sheet reconciliations monthly, resolving reconciling items timely and maintaining audit-ready support.
• Own the SG&A and COGS accrual processes, including preparation, analysis, true-ups, and documentation of methodology and assumptions.
• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accounting principles.
• Identify and investigate variances or discrepancies in financial records, perform fluctuation analysis, and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate accounting workflows.
• Improve reporting to other departments by enhancing the accuracy, format, and usefulness of recurring deliverables and responding to ad hoc reporting needs.
• Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and ensure its accuracy and consistency.
• Manage time well to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and balance review responsibilities with individual deliverables.
