Job Description

Job Title: Staff Accountant II Position: Full Time

FLSA: Exempt

Location: Onsite, New Castle, PA Reports To: Director of Finance

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, experience in nonprofit financial management, and a collaborative mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

· Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis

· Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit-specific accounting standards (including fund accounting)

· Support the annual audit and 990 process and liaise with external auditors

· Monitor and report on grant funding, including compliance and reporting requirements

· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

· Oversee restricted and unrestricted fund tracking

· Improve and document accounting processes and internal controls

· Collaborate cross-functionally with program and development teams

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor degree in accounting

· 2 to 4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices (FASB ASC 958)

· Experience with fund accounting and grant reporting

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, Sage, or similar)

· Advanced Excel skills

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
