What You’ll Do 

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll maintain SSR’s general ledger, deliver accurate monthly financial statements, and manage the annual budgeting process. You’ll supervise daily GL/AP activities, strengthen controls, and partner with operations leaders to translate data into clear insights.

  • Maintain the general ledger structure, accounts, and mapping; monitor activity for accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead the monthly close process, including review of balance sheet and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Resolve issues timely.
  • Review monthly expense analyses and drive corrective actions with stakeholders.
  • Assist with daily task supervision of Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable activities;
  • Review and approve journal entries prepared by Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerks; prepare complex or non‑routine entries as needed
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports; provide variance commentary and trends.
  • Review GL activity to ensure proper coding, cutoff, and compliance with policy.
  • Manage the budgeting process—provide templates, consolidate inputs from Program Directors, and publish reports for review.
  • Serve as a support for audits; prepare audit schedules, respond to requests, and maintain well‑organized supporting documentation.
  • Review sales tax returns and ensure timely filings; support other tax and compliance tasks as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency; lead or support implementation of improvements.
  • Complete special projects and cross‑train to support department coverage.

 

Who We’re Looking For 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Accounting or a related field with  three years of applicable experience
  • CPA preferred

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong command of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and balance‑sheet reconciliation disciplines.
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical data; produce concise reports and recommendations.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and deadline‑driven; able to orchestrate multiple activities efficiently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; collaborative, service‑oriented approach with internal partners.
