ABOUT THE POSITION
Position Overview: The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations through analysis, reconciliations, and reporting. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated professional who enjoys solving complex issues, working independently, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week). Monday to Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Compensation Range: $28.00 - 36.50/hr (Non-Exempt) *Hiring rates may be dependent on a number of factors, including years of directly related work experience, education, geographic location or special skills*

Location: This is an on-site position in Endwell, NY.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform detailed monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts, including researching and resolving variances
  • Support key accounting functions such as fixed assets, lease accounting, and loan participation processing
  • Prepare and review financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with regulatory and internal standards
  • Execute file loads and support data integrity for accounting and reporting processes
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and take ownership of timely resolution
  • Collaborate with accounting team members to ensure consistent coverage across functions and responsibilities

  • Reconciliations are completed accurately and on time, with discrepancies identified, investigated, and resolved proactively
  • Financial data is reliable, well-supported, and ready for reporting with minimal rework or escalation
  • You operate independently, managing your workload with confidence and minimal oversight
  • Issues are not just identified—you take ownership of resolution and follow through to completion
  • You seamlessly step in to support shared responsibilities, ensuring continuity of operations across the team
  • Processes are continuously improved through your attention to detail, critical thinking, and initiative
  • You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively, contributing to a strong, team-oriented environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in an accounting, finance or business discipline with 1-2 years of relevant experience; 3-5 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership in completing work accurately and efficiently
  • Flexibility to learn multiple functions and provide cross-coverage within a team-based environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a small, highly interdependent team
  • Accounting, finance, or business-related degree preferred
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs as well as proficiency with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, PCs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • Prior experience within financial services, banking, credit unions, or a regulated environment
