Job Description

NVR – the parent company of Ryan Homes, NVHomes, and Heartland Homes – is searching for an Senior Architectural Technician – Mechanical Systemsto be integral to our Architectural Project Team, which emphasizes teamwork and innovation.These teams are responsible for developing crucial construction documentation for sales, permitting, and homebuilding construction. Youll play a central role in our dynamic product development process, including collaborative 3D building information modeling (BIM) using AutoCAD. You’ll be involved in projects that span from design drawings and structural analysis to HVAC systems and building code compliance. You will also support homebuilding personnel with permitting and inspection challenges, ensuring seamless project execution. Discover what it’s like working in NVR's Architectural Services Department through this video.

Role Overview:

  • Develop detailed HVAC system designs, specifications, and load calculations in compliance with current codes. 
  • This requires a demonstrated understanding of written and verbal guidelines on elements such as structure, residential construction, material takeoffs, NVR option system, roof framing, panel fabrication, and/or building codes. 
  • Research and compile information, consulting with project team members and subject matter experts as required, to support overall project completion. 
  • Maintain assigned portion of the project schedule. 
  • Review own work for basic technical and quality compliance. Developing ability, experience, and knowledge to meet the full quality and technical standards set by NVR.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or equivalent drafting / AutoCAD work experience 
  • 3+ years’ experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industries 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 
  • Proficiency in Writesoft preferred 
  • Experience with HVAC system design and load calculations (Manual J, S, and D) 
  • Preferred experience in residential or production homebuilding 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents 
  • Experience with design development and creation of construction documentation 
  • High level of attention to detail as well as strong organizational, planning and time management skills 
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, with effective communication skills
