$24.16 - $36.24 Hourly

Posting Details

 

District Five is one of six districts of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The boundaries of District Five include the following counties: Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, and San Juan. Employees in the District are responsible for providing the Maintenance, Construction, Engineering Support, and Business support measures of the Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as efficient highways.

This position is in Santa Fe and will be within the District Five Campus /Administrative Section.

As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date.
This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.

Why does the job exist?

 

Incumbent will provide operational and financial oversight for district inventory, fuel, asset management, and reconciliation processes to ensure accountability, compliance, accuracy, and continuity of district operations. The position serves as a critical coordination point between accounting, operations, maintenance personnel, inventory functions, and field staff to maintain accurate financial records, inventory controls, fuel accountability, and asset tracking systems. The position supports audit readiness, financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with departmental and state requirements. The position also provides analytical review and problem resolution related to inventory discrepancies, billing irregularities, asset accountability, and reconciliation processes involving district operational resources.

How does it get done?

 

Incumbent will be responsible for inventory, fuel, and financial reconciliation oversight, asset management and accountability, operational coordination, process management, analytical review/compliance, reporting, as well as administrative/operational support.

Who are the customers?

 

Internal Department of Transportation employees and various vendors.

Ideal Candidate

 

The Ideal candidate has experience in the following:

*Managing inventory
*Materials
*Fuel and/or warehouse stock including tracking, tagging, transfers, and auditing processes
*Resolving discrepancies between system records, physical counts, and supporting documentation
*Financial or monetary systems to maintain records, support reporting
*Processing financial transactions such as invoices, vouchers, and purchase orders.

Minimum Qualification

 

Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

 

Must possess and maintain a current Driver's License.

Working Conditions

 

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
