About the Department
Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to analyze data and create reports using infographics, maps, graphs and charts to tell a story that is easy to understand.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Provides technical support to data collection and analysis functions of the assigned department.
Helps design data collection plans to measure program outcomes and effectiveness.
Retrieves, processes and makes accessible data from various sources for internal and external users.
Links, converts or saves data into database, spreadsheet or graphic format.
Performs statistical and qualitative analysis on data gathered from operational and financial data systems to optimize decision-making.
Oversees and conducts program evaluation.
Creates program and organizational reports, including data visualizations and written analysis.
Fosters a culture of empowerment and ownership to resolve issues and improve operations.
Responds to regular data requests in a professional and timely manner.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree in Information Technology or Systems, Engineering Technology, Planning or related discipline.
Four (4) years of program evaluation, data analysis or related experience.
EQUIVALENCY: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
