Mericle Construction, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant that will be responsible for maintaining strong accounting discipline, ensuring accuracy across core financial processes, and supporting the broader finance function within a large, stable, and highly successful organization. This role requires a solid accounting foundation, hands‑on execution, and the ambition to grow into a broader finance role over time. Mericle Construction, Inc. is the largest, full-service developer of industrial, office, flex, and medical space along Pennsylvania’s I-81 Corridor. Mericle has developed more than 100 buildings in the Scranton/Pittston/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton area. The Mericle team includes licensed architects, land planners, professional engineers, surveyors, licensed electricians, plumbers, carpenters, leasing and marketing professionals, property managers, and more.

Primary Duties
- Own core accounting processes, including month end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Support finance activities such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate closely with leadership and external accountants.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Participate in internal training and development aligned with our organizational approach.
Growth Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted backup to the CFO when needed.
- Contribute to process improvements using practical judgment and financial insight.
- Take on expanded responsibilities across finance as skills develop (not a VP Finance track).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- CPA Preferred (open to candidates pursuing CPA licensure; the company supports continued professional development and exam preparation).
- Proficiency with accounting software preferred (e.g., Sage and Microsoft products)
- Strong understanding of numbers, transactions, and internal controls.
- Comfort working with large financial volumes and material values.
- High attention to detail and reliability.
- Self‑starter mindset with a “What can I take on next?” attitude.

- Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.
