The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation’s leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute’s efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Posting Summary
Rutgers is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst I for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ This position is responsible for conducting financial analysis, projects and statistical studies. Coordinates formulation, monitoring, and presentation of budgets for controlling funds to implement the program objectives of the organization.

- Prepares budget and forecast for units within the Center based on organization’s performance, estimated revenue, expense reports and past budget numbers.
- Supports the Institution’s annual RBHS budget preparation
- Prepares financial analysis and consults with project PIs to monitor progress and ensure adjustments are made in accordance with program changes to facilitate long-term planning; includes the monitoring of subawards.
- Reviews and approves expenditures of departments to ensure compliance with budget and allowability according to sponsor policy and compliance with Rutgers policy.
- Directs preparation of special budget reports to interpret budget directives and to establish policies for carrying out directive

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a relevant field plus four (4) years of progressively more responsible experience in fiscal activities.
- Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent business acumen, accounting skills, detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in computer applications at an advanced level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be resourceful by maximizing the utilization of the Rutgers resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials
- Strong experience managing a large portfolio of sponsored Grants and Contracts from various types of Sponsoring Agencies
- Strong knowledge of Research grants and contracts budgeting and federal guidelines/regulations pertaining to Research and Development
