Purpose
As a strategic advisor, this role provides insightful analysis to the business functions to help guide both strategic direction and financial decisions. You will partner with the management team to create operating plans and periodic forecasts that reflect the state of the business, and provide for meaningful financial benchmarks. Additionally, you will act as a business partner, working closely with functional leaders to facilitate sound decision making and identify opportunities for efficiency, savings, and investment.
Job Responsibilities
Finance Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep executive leadership abreast of company’s financial status including variances to budget and vs. previous periods.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; focus not only on what happened or what's happening but on why it's happening and what is likely to happen in the future.
- Develop, interpret, and implement financial and accounting concepts/techniques for enhanced financial planning, reporting, analysis, and control.
- Partner with functional leaders to develop roadmap planning, KPIs, related performance targets and regularly communicate results vs. targets. Own the annual budgeting cycle and recurring short-term and long-term forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Gather and analyze data for potential business expansion
- Create reports, dashboards and visualizations to understand business performance
- Identify areas for improvement, including automation opportunities, and partner with leadership to help improve profitability, reduce cost, or other actions that may be necessary.
- Assist with annual third party audit and tax preparation, as applicable.
Decision Analysis & Project Management (50%)
- Collect, prepare and analyze data from across the organization to provide data-driven answers to business questions.
- Facilitate decision making by leading projects/project teams from design to implementation. Includes :
- framing opportunities and options for growth or improvement,
- identifying analysis needs, gathering and analyzing data,
- building relationships and collecting inputs from cross-functional experts,
- estimating financial and operational implications of various options, and
- influencing stakeholders in gaining approval on the group’s recommendations.
- Analyze industry trends and make recommendations based on those trends.
- Evaluate capital expenditures and depreciation.
- Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data.
- Serve as key user resource for data gathering and interpretation (from NetSuite)
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other business field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible related experience in CPG. FP&A and Decision Analysis experience strongly preferred.
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel. Understands and uses formulas/processes to aggregate and manipulate raw data and develop complex spreadsheets.
- Strong business partnering skills. Takes initiative to understand business priorities and goals, build a deep knowledge of the company and its processes, and turn droves of information into easily understood reports and/or interactive analytical spreadsheets for repeated use.
- Exemplary problem-solving skills. Persistent in overcoming the challenges inherent in consolidating and reconciling financial data.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting systems.
- Experience in an ERP software environment, understanding how to automate reporting and extract data to expedite analysis. NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
- Uses logic and critical thinking in analysis, including the ability to look at an opportunity using a “big picture” approach and consider multiple options in decision making.
- Must be able to deliver effective solutions that provide tangible benefits within short timeframes.
- Thrives in an independent, self-directed environment and also has the ability to forge strong relationships and facilitate a collaborative atmosphere.
- Excellent interpersonal, written & verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable diving into complex and varied data sets from sales, marketing, human resources and operations.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, manage details, ensure accuracy and timeliness in a fast paced and changing work environment.
- Willingness to embrace growth, change, and to be flexible with evolving processes and technology.
- Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including finance and non-finance managers.

- Experience in consumer products company, with manufacturing.
- MBA
- CPA, with audit experience
Physical Requirements
- This job operates in a clerical office setting, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This role requires the ability to sit or stand at a computer or in meetings for extended periods of time.
- This role also requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary to complete filing .
