Why does the job exist?
This position serves to perform all aspects of landscaping and grounds keeping for a 26-acre campus and also janitorial services in at least 6 buildings and on occasion perform routine minor duties elsewhere in the district.
How does it get done?
By utilizing hand and power tools or compact equipment. Perform general maintenance on equipment and power/hand tools. Rake and pick up debris from the landscaping. Watering trees, shrubs and plantings. Spraying herbicide to control weeds. Performing general janitorial duties. Ordering janitorial/cleaning supplies. Assembling and moving of office furniture.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
The ability to work without constant supervision.
The ability to perform plumbing repairs.
The ability to perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on small gasoline engines.
The ability to utilize a computer.
The ability to utilize hand tools to service, clean, maintain and repair buildings, grounds, fixtures and irrigation systems.
The ability to perform general janitorial duties.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver¿s License. Business reference check and Driver¿s License verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions - hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow, exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; must be able to work safely with dirt, soils, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and pesticides; must be able to work in noisy conditions and around power tools and equipment; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; some climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling to perform job duties; ability to up to 50 pounds. Work may also be performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and may be subject to call out for emergencies on short notice; willingness to accept change of geographical assignments; interaction with the public.
