Job Title: Senior Mortgage UnderwriternnDivision: OperationsnnLocation: Columbia, SCnnPosition Summary:nUnderwrites mortgage loan applications and evaluates loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss.nnDirect Reports:nNonennCore Responsibilities:nnnUnderwritingnnnRespond to investor repurchase and quality review requests.nSupport loan shipping process to clear underwriting purchase issues.nUnderwrite residential loans while ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards as well as compliance with lending regulations.nRender underwriting decisions and subsequent clearing conditions to ensure credit and investor guidelines are met. nEvaluate and examine transactions to ensure accuracy and completenessnContact customers and partners to gather information to make appropriate decisionsnProactively communicate the decisions to the Residential Lending Specialists and Community Bank Partners with an explanation behind credit decisionnnnTraining/Help DesknnnServe as a resource to Residential Mortgage personnel on underwriting questions and provide training for investor, underwriting and compliance related issues. nRecommends modifications to underwriting procedures. nProvide training as needed to Residential Lending Specialists and Community Bank Partners as requested by Channel Manager. nnnnn3. Underwriting Managementn· Prepare formal reports for review.n· Provide feedback on new investor candidates as it relates to underwriting guidelines and delivery procedures. n· Coordinate third party quality control of mortgage loans and evaluate reports providing feedback concerning closed loan quality and process improvements. n· Ensure that contractors are trained on investor specific eligibility requirements and guidelines. n· Negotiate with third party service providers and manage contracts.n4.
