Overview

This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence three days per week at one of our local offices, located in Allentown, PA (Lehigh Valley), Louisville, KY, or Providence, RI.    #LI-Hybrid    #INDPPL

 

PPL is seeking a Senior Product Manager – Field Metering & Field Mobility Technology to lead the strategy, governance, and delivery of a portfolio of digital products supporting field operations across a regulated electric and gas utility environment.

 

This role is accountable for defining and driving technology product strategy, aligning investments to business priorities, and delivering measurable outcomes through a portfolio of products, projects, and programs. The Senior Product Manager operates at the intersection of business and technology, ensuring strong alignment to enterprise strategy while maintaining execution accountability across the portfolio.

 

The ideal candidate brings advanced product management experience, strong portfolio governance capability, and the ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives. This role requires deep understanding of Field Metering, Field Mobility, Work Management, and Field Operations, with responsibility for driving end-to-end product performance, user experience, and value realization.


Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership:

 

  • Define and lead the product strategy for Field Metering and Field Mobility capabilities, aligning to enterprise priorities, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle (Explore, Exploit, Maintain, Retire), ensuring optimal investment decisions and sustained value delivery.
  • Identify and deliver strategic outcomes, success measures, and business value realization metrics across the portfolio.
  • Own and continuously improve end-to-end user journeys and experiences supporting field technicians and mobile workforce operations.
  • Evaluate emerging trends in utility operations, metering technology, and mobile workforce solutions to inform long-term strategy.

Portfolio Governance & Investment Management

  • Provide leadership in portfolio governance, prioritization, and investment planning, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy.
  • Initiate, review, and prioritize new product and capability investments in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Track, manage, and optimize portfolio investments to ensure accountability for outcomes and value realization.
  • Lead structured portfolio reviews and performance assessments with senior stakeholders.
  • Manage cross-portfolio dependencies, risks, and issue resolution.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Alignment

  • Serve as a primary interface to business leaders across Field Operations, Metering, Mobility, and Work Management.
  • Align stakeholders around high-value initiatives and drive consensus on priorities and funding.
  • Influence decisions through data-driven insights and structured business case development.
  • Partner with Technology, Design, and Analytics leaders on enterprise-wide digital initiatives.

Delivery & Execution Accountability

  • Maintain accountability for successful delivery of products, projects, and programs across the portfolio.
  • Ensure alignment with business objectives, operational priorities, and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive disciplined delivery governance, prioritization, and execution planning.
  • Monitor and improve delivery performance, predictability, and quality.

Team Leadership & Product Operating Model

  • Lead and mentor product team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Support development of high-performing product teams and product practices.
  • Lead discovery and shaping of new opportunities aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Promote a product operating model focused on outcomes and value delivery.

Digital Capability & Business Value Expansion

  • Leverage expertise in Field Metering and Field Mobility to identify digital opportunities.
  • Drive improvements in field productivity, metering data quality, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Enable integrated capabilities across scheduling, dispatch, execution, and meter lifecycle management.

Regulatory & Industry Alignment

  • Ensure alignment with industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Support regulatory readiness and audit activities related to field and metering operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, portfolio management, or technology-enabled transformation.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proven ability to drive product strategy and delivery in regulated environments.
  • Strong experience in portfolio governance and value realization.
  • Experience in Field Metering, Field Mobility, or Field Operations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in electric and gas utility or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with metering systems and mobile workforce solutions.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Understanding of product operating models and portfolio funding approaches.
