Under moderate supervision, operates various supply trucks, including tractor/trailers, to deliver, load and offload materials to various Metro locations.

- Operates various Metro vehicles, including supply trucks and tractor/trailers to deliver equipment, vehicle parts, and stationery supplies to various Metro locations
- Operates a forklift, crane, drum jack, and other equipment to load and unload materials from trucks
- Load and unload items by hand/manually, as required
- Secures items on trucks and trailers to prevent movement and damage during delivery
- Completes Bill of Lading (BOL) documents that reflect materials being transported
- Logs arrival and departure times to and from various Metro locations
- Inspects trucks and trailers to ensure the lights, signals, brakes, tires and other control mechanisms are in safe operating condition.
- Completes vehicle inspection reports, as required
- Utilizes Microsoft Outlook for email communications
- Utilizes Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS), when required
- May stock shelves and issue parts and materials in storeroom areas
- Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area in vehicle cabs and in the trailers throughout shift

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
Education- None Required
- Six months of relevant experience driving a commercial vehicle, including operation of a forklift in a warehouse operations environment
- Valid California Class A Commercial Driver License
- Possession of a forklift certification/license or the ability to obtain a forklift certification/license within the first two weeks assigned to the Senior Truck Driver/Clerk job classification
- Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
- Positions in this job classification are considered safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations
Essential Knowledge
Knowledge of (defined as a learned body of information that is required for and applied in the performance of job tasks)- Basic warehousing, delivery, and safety practices and procedures
- Vehicle operations, safety, and applicable DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) and DOT (Department of Transportation) commercial driving rules and regulations
- Applicable business software applications
- Operating Metro vehicles, including automobiles, supply trucks, and tractor/trailers safely and efficiently
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing
- Interacting professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives
- Load and unload materials
- Transport, distribute, and stock materials using a crane, forklift, drum jack, or other equipment
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Maintain logs and records
- Accurately badges in and out at the start and end of shift
- Independently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; lift and move objects weighing over 51 pounds with assistance
- Travel to offsite locations
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
