Job Description
Do you have experience involving the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of quantified data? Would you like to make an impact on South Carolina’s workforce?
Our Senior Workforce Data Analyst serves within the Labor Market Information (LMI) division in Columbia. LMI produces and presents data, statistics, and analysis related to employment and the workforce including labor supply and demand, wages and income, labor force and unemployment statistics, employment projections, and labor force demographics.
This role will serve as an expert on confidential administrative data and publicly available resources pertaining to workforce development in South Carolina. Leverage statistics to generate actionable insights for the agency and state, as well as businesses and jobseekers. Provide support to the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Workforce Data Analyst will:
- Serve as project lead on analyses of data for the state's education and workforce development system
- Communicate workforce insights effectively to stakeholders
- Develop, produce, implement, and deliver workforce information reports, analyses, products, and services.
- Serve as SME on relevant developments in economics and public policy
Position Duties
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy, public administration, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, computer science, or a related field and five years of experience in research and analysis of policy challenges OR a doctoral or professional degree in any of these fields.
Additional RequirementsAdvanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Substantial knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Python, R, Stata and/or SQL. Extensive experience with statistical analysis and social science research techniques. Ability to coordinate efforts within other divisions, agencies and organizations. Ability to communicate effectively and in an engaging manner with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD degree is preferred. Two years of experience outside of academia in research and analysis of policy challenges. Professional writing experience.
