Description
The Server Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the front-of-house dining team to deliver exceptional guest experiences that reflect the luxury standards and unique hospitality of the resort. This role oversees daily restaurant operations, ensures service excellence, maintains staff performance standards, and fosters a welcoming atmosphere for guests while promoting teamwork and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities include supervising and coaching servers, coordinating dining room operations, assisting with guest relations, resolving service concerns, ensuring compliance with food safety and service standards, and supporting training and development initiatives. The Server Supervisor works closely with restaurant management and culinary teams to create memorable dining experiences that exceed guest expectations.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, possesses a passion for hospitality, and has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused luxury resort environment.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
- Ability to understand and execute all safety and emergency procedures; example: fire, crowd control, inclement weather, and bomb threats.
- Ability to move freely within restaurant and kitchen area.
- Ability to handle cash and credit transactions.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including use of percentages.
- Ability to effectively utilize point of sale equipment.
- Ability to read and understand diagrams and count.
- Ability to interact with guests and other employees in a courteous, emphatic and discreet manner.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and be able to direct/escort them to various facilities and functions with the hotel.
- Not infected by diseases transmitted through the food supply as designated by the Public Health Service.
- Ability to push/pull carts weighing approximately 100 pounds.
- Ability to lift and carry a server tray weighing approximately 50 pounds.
- Must be flexible with schedule.
- Ability to bend, squat and reach.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet city, county, state or other legal minimum age requirement to sell/serve alcoholic beverages.
- Must have health card on file in Food & Beverage office.
- Must complete "tips" training within the first 6-months of employment.
- Maintain warm, hospitable guest relations.
- Maintain service standards of a first class restaurant. It is to be accomplished with continual training sessions.
- Help conduct monthly departmental meetings to receive feedback from employees, while communicating changes and policies.
- Develop a beginning and continual training program for all service personnel to improve the guests dining experience.
- Maintain a high level of professional appearance and image of self and subordinates.
- Ensure that the highest quality food and beverage items are served in the restaurant.
- Insure all employees are properly oriented into the hotel. This includes giving the employees their Job Descriptions and Service Standards upon employment.
- Discipline employee properly, when necessary, as according to Rancho de los Caballeros Discipline Standards.
- Responsible for effectively scheduling employees to ensure quality service to the guest, while staying within budgeted guidelines set by the hotel.
- Maintain positive employee relations in a union free environment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, well-organized restaurant and back work area.
