Position Summary
The Miller's Smorgasbord Server position is a combination of tipped position in a buffet style dining environment and non-tipped rotation as a buffet attendant or host/hostess, working less than 30 hours per week on weekdays, weekends and holidays. You will be responsible for ensuring a warm friendly table service and dining experience for our guests and present dining options available in a friendly, professional, and quick manner. Potential earnings for this rotation position is $20 to $36+ per hour based on actual employee earnings but not guaranteed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Server: (Tipped position: $2.83/hour plus tips)
- Perform opening and closing procedures per company guidelines
- Present dining options and makes recommendations based on guest interaction
- Take order (food, beverage, and alcohol)
- Deliver all non-alcoholic beverages to table
- Pick up from kitchen and deliver to table any ala carte orders / plated meals
- Provide timely, friendly table service throughout the meal
- Create, present and settle guest checks via point of sale system
- Wrap silverware units
- Interact with guests from start to finish and provide relevant restaurant and area information to ensure positive dining experience
- Communicate and work as team with other servers, bussers, and hosts to bus and set tables and plan reservations
- Maintain neat, clean and safe server station work area and dining room seating area
Buffet Attendant: Non-tipped
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Rotating food by using the oldest first as the buffet bar is replenished
- Maintaining clean and sanitary environment with knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation
- Assist team members with buffet bars as needed
- Communicating effectively with kitchen team when more food needs to be cooked
- Be aware of guests’ needs; assist in providing a pleasant dining experience
- Cleaning carpet around buffet stations to maintain a clean and safe working environment for guests and coworkers at all times
- Making sure all food items are stored properly according to health department regulations
- Making sure all working areas and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized
- Interacting with guests and providing them with a warm greeting and a positive parting remark showing gratitude for their business as appropriate
- Ensure all cooking and electrical equipment is turned off at the end of the shift
- Attending staff meetings, morning meetings and other meetings as requested
- Performing all other duties as requested
- Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)*
- Must be age 16 or older
- Physical stamina to lift and carry heavy items (trays, tubs, etc.)
- Weekends, evenings and holidays required
- Ability to follow safety protocols
- High energy and stamina are required
- Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively
- Strong verbal communication skills required
- Excellent customer service to treat patrons like family
- Ability to read menus, safety documents, and other work-related documents

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greeting and seating guests
- Treating guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction
- Taking names on a waiting list
- Running the floor plan board
- Observing tables and keeping track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables
- Taking guest information and quoting wait time to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available
- Interacting with guests coming in and as they leave, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Performing other duties as assigned
