Position Overview:
The Service Bartender is responsible for preparing alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages for restaurant guests through server orders while maintaining recipe consistency, quality, speed, and presentation standards. This position supports the dining room by ensuring beverages are prepared accurately and efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized service bar, and keeping all bar supplies fully stocked.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service bar throughout each shift, including beer, wine, liquor, mixers, glassware, garnishes, paper products, and other bar supplies.
- Prepare, stock, cut, and store fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, juices, syrups, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages according to established recipes, presentation standards, and portion controls.
- Accurately prepare beverage orders received through the POS system while maintaining speed and quality during high-volume service.
- Verify beverage orders for accuracy before releasing them to servers.
- Maintain accountability for all beverages prepared by accurately ringing and fulfilling orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Keep the service bar, equipment, workstations, and glassware clean, sanitized, and organized throughout the shift.
- Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, and supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Assist with opening, closing, inventory, stocking, and side work responsibilities as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Follow all federal, state, local, and company alcohol service regulations, including refusing service when required by law.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment at all times.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Must comply with all federal, state, and company alcohol service regulations, including laws regarding service to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Thorough knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.
- Basic math skills to operate a POS system, process payments, make change, balance cash drawers, and understand portioning.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to effectively communicate with guests and team members.
- Minimum of 3 years of bartending experience required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
- Must be able to perform all essential job duties as assigned.
- Alcohol Awareness certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Food Handler, CPR, and First Aid certifications are preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for 8 to 10 hour shifts.
- Ability to walk, reach, bend, stoop and wipe to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds and place items on high and low shelves.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
