Description

• Provides training and supervision to ensure that employees are performing assigned work properly. 
• Inspects equipment and ensures that glass and glass like items like plexi-glass are intact and not broken or damaged. Reports and findings of issues and takes corrective action. See Glass Policy. 
• Monitors production to ensure that safety, quality and cost standards are maintained. Evaluates subordinate performance, communicate with employees and provide information on improvement. 
• Enforces company work rules and safety guidelines. 
• Performs finished product quality analysis and documentation that finished products meet or exceed specifications. 
• Completes shift reports daily. 
• Sanitation activities for the production line at each clean up period. 
• Reviews production schedule to ensure proper packaging, identification and stacking are provided. 
• Ensures proper sanitation and cleaning practices are done as scheduled. 
• Assists in the investigation of issues to determine root cause and prevention ideas. 
• Must be able to start and operate the equipment on the processing line within 15 days meeting company production throughput and recovery expectations. 
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. 
• Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repairs. 
• Requisitions spare parts as need arises. 
• Follows all company policies, operating procedures and safety regulations. 
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 
• Inspects production equipment for proper operation and ensures that fluid levels and cleanup of oil spills, etc. are completed. 
• Checks for leaks in steam, water, air, oil and other utility lines. 
• Checks all conveyors and idlers for proper operation. 
• Oils and greases machines as scheduled.

• Cleans work area, tools, and equipment. 
• Logs and records production data and then utilizes this information to base his/her decision on proper equipment operations for best recovery while meeting quality specifications. 
• Interprets quality specifications and ensure that finished product meets those requirements in every way. 
• You are required to be on or near processing production lines (from peelers to final box) at all times unless at breaks. Monitoring quality, equipment performance including flow rates, recovery, efficiency, etc. The Packaging Supervisor is your backup for lunches and breaks and you are their back up. 
• You must be the one to turn off and on the processing equipment (dicer to the freeze tunnel) and make sure that they are properly adjusted for speed and quality. 
• If you are called to the office, you must get your backup and have permission from Director of Operations to leave the line n/a on swing shift 
• Inspects the line, communicate with the oncoming shift operator and complete your paperwork and clock out within 15 minutes of your shift end time. If there is an issue that requires you to be here later, please get permission from Director of Operations. 
• During defrost periods you must be somewhere alongside the packaging production line inspecting and helping to ensure the equipment is getting cleaned and sanitized properly and mechanically ready to start back up on time. 
• You must complete at least three observations during each week, one per day on a particular task or 
procedure. Any procedure that needs to be modified, you must write up the modifications and turn in 
with your paperwork. 
• You must carry the cell phone and inform maintenance personnel when you are about to shut down for defrost and start up. You must be available by cell phone for Director of Operations to contact you. 
• Quality of the finished product is your responsibility. You need to address issues raised by both the peel teams and the packaging team members and work together to solve them. If more than 2 pallets have a quality issue, stop running until you resolve the issue. 
• You are the main contact with the Director of Operations for any concerns on both peeling and packaging. 
• A priority for Production Line Mechanics is your responsibility. This means that if there are multiple issues for the production line mechanics you are the one to advise them on the priorities. If you need help with this contact Director of Operations. 
• You are not to receive food or special items from the persons that work under you unless they are providing it to all crew members. 
• You are not authorized to fire anyone. You can send a person home for not following your direction or company policies and ask them to return next business day to meet with Chief Operating Officer. If this occurs you must also inform the Chief Operating Officer (via email) of the reason you sent them home with the facts.You must take corrective action for any associate who is not following company policies or procedures. This action should be in written form and be discussed with the associate in private with another supervisor as a witness. 
• You must follow all company policies and procedures and be aware of each of them so that you can train and follow up with your crew members to ensure they are following them as well. 
• If you have any questions or concerns that you are not comfortable dealing with yourself you must contact the Director of Operatings and/or Chief Operating Officer immediately. 
• Outside Truck Drivers wanting to pick up finished products – You are the contact for these persons after business hours. You are to communicate with Director of Operatings to get instructions for them. 
• Defrost Schedule – 1 Quick and 1 Regular – you are responsible to decide whether a regular defrost is needed. This would depend on the condition of the freeze tunnel and air flow through the coils. Be sure to consider the ice buildup on the chains and sprockets as this can cause damage to the tunnel belt. You must document the type of defrost in the Defrost log and make notes in the log at each 
defrost. 
• The type of product being produced will greatly affect the coils (smaller cuts make them plug up faster than larger cuts). Frequency and accuracy of coil blowing during production will also affect the tunnel.
• Dicers – you must ensure that dicer parts and assemblies are prepared and, on the shelf, ready to go at all times. If for any reason you cannot keep up with the dicer assemblies, you must include this in your daily email. 
• Door Seals – you must ensure that all door seals and scrapers for the tunnel, chiller and blancher are 
maintained and working properly. If for any reason you cannot keep up with this, you must include 
this in your daily email. 
• Coil Blowing – Regular coil blowing on belt side of coils will be determined and done by Operator every 30-40 minutes Cold Storage Temperatures – you are responsible to monitor the temperature of the cold storage and to report to maintenance any temperatures above zero. Also include on your daily email. 
• Doors must be kept closed and operating properly – you are responsible to inspect them and to report to maintenance any door that is not functioning properly. 
• Pre-Op inspections – when you come on to your shift and after each defrost you are required to do a pre-op inspection and to address any concerns immediately. You must also document them on your daily email and pre-op inspection report. 
• Crisis Manager – for any crisis, disaster, downtime, injury, accident, damage to equipment or building, etc. you are the key contact for managers and directors as well as maintenance. You must review any near miss or accident report with the supervisors involved. 
• Packaging Supplies and maintenance Parts – it is your responsibility to determine the supply needs for the packaging line. Report any items that we appear to be running short on including parts for equipment and all packaging supplies as well as gear needs – work with your supervisors to ensure you get all information necessary to report. 

• Scales – you are the key contact for the scale repairs and notification of any issues. Check them on your shift and be sure that those that are not working are tagged and included in your daily email if not repaired during your shift. 
• Label Maker, Powell Filler, Box metal Detector, Other Metal Detectors, etc. – Any issues with the equipment in the packaging room including the labeling equipment you must be made aware of and work with the packaging team to resolve the issues. You will contact the Director of Operations if it cannot be resolved and include in your daily email. 
• Supports all programs and policies that ensure that product is of the highest quality, meets specifications and is safe, legal and wholesome. 
• Other related duties may be assigned by the supervisor. 
• It is not necessary for this position to do every assignment included in this job description although it is preferred. If an accommodation is needed for any of these assigned tasks, you must submit a request with Human Resources Manager. This request must then be officially approved before it can go into effect. Summary

 Operates, sets up, cleans, and analyzes operations of equipment used in processing line from product even-flows to finished box. Including, but not limited to; Even-flows, Dicer, Conveyors, Shaker Tables, Food Pump, Electronic Defect Removal System, Blancher, Chiller, Vacuum, Freeze Tunnel. In addition to duties of Shift Operations Supervisor this position includes training other persons in this position, coordinating maintenance activities and communicating with management needs and concerns. Supports all programs and policies to ensure product is of the highest quality, meets specifications and is safe, legal and wholesome.
